The region of Umbria is very historical with lots of interesting places to visit.
A little more than half an hour drive is the splendid town of Assisi, the birthplace of Saint Francis.

Perugia , an Etruscan city rich in archaeological sites and extraordinary architectures.

Orvieto, a famous Etruscan town, already ancient even from the Roman times.
Here you will find the world renowned Cathedral of Orvieto, famous for its highly expressed Italian gothic architectural design.
But even close by are the towns of Todi, Deruta (famous for its ceramics), Gubbio, Città di Castello, le Fonti del Clitunno, Spoleto and do not miss the spectacular Cascate delle Marmore.

CASTIGLIONE DEL LAGO

Castiglione del Lago is situated in a small promontory that wedges on the lake.
The whole town is surrounded by a medieval fortress. Inside is a well-preserved renaissance palace of the Duke of Corgna. medievale.

Castiglione di Lago was originally a fisherman's village.
Then it became an agricultural zone. Today, it is the most important touristic centre of Trasimeno.
Here you can take up any kind of water sport activities. There is a covered swimming pool, tennis courts and a fully equipped lake resort.

The Ducal Palace was constructed in 1563.
It was conceptualised as a small palace and was completely isolated from the rest of the town.
They subsequently introduced a number of elaborately rich gardens, which unfortunately was destroyed through the years.
The noble floor is the first stopover of the museum's itinerary. It is completely restored and suitable for a visit.

TUSCANY

Cortona a little Etruscan town which is today considered a medieval and renaissance jewel, with a good number of museums and home to many artists of the 400.

Shortly after is Pienza, a very interesting town of the 400.

Bagno Vignoni Besides visiting the unusual Piazza Cisterna, you can also indulge in an invigorating hot thermal bath, which is very rich in calcium and iron.
This can be enjoyed all through out the year, especially during the winter.
