FONTANARO
FARM HOUSE

Si trova
nei pressi dell'incantevole borgo medievale
di Paciano, a due passi dal lago Trasimeno e
dalle prime colline toscane. Grande cura e gusto
per i particolari caratterizzano la casa colonica
in pietra del XIX secolo di Fontanaro, l'elegante
piscina adiacente a un giardino di antiche rose
inglesi, come pure i cottage destinati agli
ospiti, arredati con mobili antichi e impreziositi
da tappeti, quadri, libri e fotografie di famiglia,
e dai tanti oggetti che ne valorizzano la calda
intimità.

There are
few places where you can find serenity, explore
medieval hill towns, Etruscan art, artifacts
and historic cities, and enjoy great food and
extraordinarily welcoming hosts. Fontanaro offers
all that and much more.
The Fontanaro
estate contains a beautifully restored two story
stone farmhouse with two separare luxury cottages..
Located in Umbria,"the green heart of Italy"
on the border of Tuscany, it is set in 40 acres
of olive trees and vineyards. The view is one
of rolling green hills facing fantastic sunsets
or sunrises.
The farm
house, built in 1893, is beautifully restored
with modern comforts. It is surrounded by a
large grass lawn filled with lemon tree pots
and a wide collection of old english roses as
well as a vegetable garden and many other flowers.
There is a bread oven, barbecue and a large
private swimming pool (14x6m) with maxi Jacuzzi
The two
cozy cottages, named Frantoio and Leccino, are
adjacent to the main house. Both cottages have
their own private patio and garden. Each cottage,
approximately 60 sq mt, has a large living room
with satellite TV, a well equipped kitchen corner
and fireplace, plus a large bedroom with king-size
bed and a comfortable, modern bathroom with
shower.
A library
of english language books is provided in each
cottage. You can browse the selection of art
books, guides, maps, brochures and tourist information
about the wonderful places to visit in the area.
The estate
is located 1 km from the walled city of Paciano,
a perfectly restored 13th century medieval village
in a peaceful, unpolluted and scenic location.
There is a view of Lake Trasimeno and the lights
of Chiusi and Cortona in the distance.
The town
is constructed on the peak of a hill 400 meters
above sea level. In 1992, the European Community
named Paciano "un villaggio ideale".
Thus, it is known as one of the top ten villages
in Italy for its idyllic setting and quality
of life. The restaurants of the area serve meals
which are typical of the rich Umbrian and Tuscan
gastronomic culture.
Less than
a one hour drive from Fontanaro, you can explore
and enjoy Assisi, Perugia, Deruta, Montalcino,
Montepulciano, Orvieto, Pienza, Cortona, Chiusi
and a host of Etruscan architectural gems in
Umbria and Tuscany.
From Chiusi,
a one hour train trip brings you to the center
of Rome of Florence. Trains leave in the morning
and return in the evening providing a convenient
way to visit these splendid cities without having
to navigate the narrow streets and heavy traffic
by car.
